Day Camp

Our number one priority at YMCA Day Camp is to provide a safe and fun environment where campers can learn, grow and make new friends. A carefully selected, day-camp-1experienced and well-trained staff will lead the way as we journey through a variety of exciting theme weeks and traditional camp activities. The “Theme of the Week” compliments regular camp activities and culminates with a theme celebration typically done on Thursdays. Don’t miss out! Join us for a week or an entire summer to remember.

  • School Bus departs the YMCA at 9:00 AM and returns at 4:30 PM Monday – Friday
  • Free extended care is available at the YMCA and/or Camp Glacier Hollow from 6:30 AM to 9:00 AM and from 4:30 PM to 6:00 PM daily
  • Campers bring a “sack” lunch and personal clothing items in a backpack daily.
  • *Hot Lunch service is available on indicated weeks for $18/week!
  • Day campers are allowed to visit our Trading Post once daily. Punch cards are available at the YMCA Child Development Office.
  • *Thursday Night Overnight Options Join your friends during indicated day camp weeks for an overnight at Camp Glacier Hollow. You will participate in evening activities, campfires, night hikes and eating SMORES. YMCA provides Thursday dinner, Friday breakfast and lunch then return to the YMCA on the Friday bus at 4:30pm. Campers sleep in cabins. Additional Fee: Y Member $30/Overnight General Public $35/Overnight
  • CAMP Fees: Y Member $170/week General Public $180/week

day-camp-2Week 1 – CAMP 2.0 ~ June 8-9
This short but sweet week of camp will be just the right amount of time to get you geared up for a fun-tastic Summer 2017!  We will be filling these couple days with our oldie but goody camp games and activities: gaga, canoeing, archery, arts & crafts just to name a few!  Come on and join us to get a taste of what Summer 2017 will be like!

Week 2 – SPORTSA’PALOOZA ~ June 12-16
At camp we love GAMES!  New games, classic games, wacky games!  We will try all sorts of games this week and end the week with a 4 Core Value Sports Challenge, complete with our annual Challenge Trophy! day-camp-3 Thursday come dressed in your team colors.
**Wednesday Night Overnight Option

Week 3 – ZOMBIE-PIRATES ~ June 19-23
Are you a Zombie or a Pirate…or both!?   While we are on the lookout for Pirate Zombies around camp, we will be preparing for their arrival!  This week we will create our best Pirate Zombie looks, test out our ship building, find buried treasure, perfect our target sports, and practice our best “ARRRRGH-UUULLLL”!  Thursday is Zombie Pirate dress up day.
**Wednesday Night Overnight Option

Week 4 – CARNIVAL ADVENTURE ~ June 26-30
Step right up!  Take part in creating our special Glacier Hollow carnival games; hit the target and throw Gecko the Clown in the lake!  Wednesday we will take a field trip to XTREME AIR in Appleton and test out our crazy, acrobatic skills!  Thursday is wacky carnival dress up day and the 2017 Glacier Hollow Carnival!  This week is not to be missed!  There is an additional $30 field trip fee this week (lunch is included on Wednesday).

Week 5 – PARTY IN THE USA ~ July 3, 5-7
This week is cause for CELEBRATION!  We will celebrate USA’s Birthday and YOUR UNBIRTHDAY complete with cake and goodies!  There will be traditional camp programming as well as fun birthday party activities like making piñatas to WHACK at the end of the week party!  Come dressed in your best 4th of July outfit on Thursday.  NO CAMP ON TUESDAY, JULY 4.

**Thursday Night Overnight Option

Week 6 – WET N’ WILD I ~ July 10-14
This ever-popular week will be exactly that – soakin’ with wet and wild excitement. We will experience water and wacky fun all week, including our very popular 75 foot slip n’ slide, a beach party, aqua adventures, and a trip to a Wausau water park on Thursday.  This week has an additional $20 water park fee.  Can’t make WET & WILD I?  Then sign up for WET & WILD II in August.

Week 7 – HOOKED ON FISHING ~ July 17-21
Are you new to fishing or a veteran angler? Join us to learn fishing techniques, safety, and just spend lots of time FISHING!  Campers will fish by boat and from shore in at least 2 locations during the week (with field trip on Tuesday or Wednesday).  Overnight campers will have extra fishing opportunities as well.  Fishing pole is required.  This week has an additional $10 fee to help cover supplies and busing.

Week 8 – DINNER & A PLAY ~ July 24-28
Who doesn’t love good entertainment AND good food?!  This week we will be combining the art of acting with the art of cooking!  If you like to act, take part in our CAMP PLAY, but if you like to cook, take part in our fun food activities.  This week will also include traditional camp activities, such as canoeing, archery, etc.  Parents are invited to see our camp play production at 2pm on Friday accompanied by camper made appetizers.

day-camp-5Week 9 – WET N’ WILD II ~ July 31 – August 4

Week 10 – WILD, WILD WEST ~ August 7-11
Yeeehaw! A dancing ho-down and dress up on Thursday, water shoot-outs, gold rush games and sling shots – we’ll have a good ol’ time.  We will even have a campfire cookout with franks & beans on Wednesday for lunch.  Campers ages 8 and up can participate in a Thursday or Friday horseback riding adventure for an additional $30 fee.


Week 11 – MYTHICAL MYSTERIES OF THE WOODS ~ August 14-18
Do you believe in the existence of BIGFOOT, the YETI or our mischievous Glacier Hollow TEAVOWEL? Bring your sense of adventure this week as we explore the mysteries of camp, create tools to uncover the unknown, and have FUN.  Help to build and take part in an agility course. Awards will be given on Thursday for best mythical monster dress up and monster hunting tools!

day-camp-7Week 12 – OUTDOOR ED-VENTURES ~ August 21-25
Outdoor cooking, shelter building, orienteering, fire-building and off site climbing and canoeing adventures. This week will be ED-VENTUREOUS!  Thursday is camo/nature dress up day!

**Wednesday Night Overnight Option
Week 12 Special Options: Campers ages 9 and up can participate in a canoe trip on the Plover River on Tuesday or Thursday and an outdoor rock climbing trip (weather permitting) on Wednesday. All rock climbers are required to enroll in the Wednesday Night Overnight, as we will return later in the evening. All equipment is supplied. No experience necessary. Space is limited, so register early for these options.

Week 13 – CAMP FLASHBACK ~ August 28 – September 1
Let’s end the summer with the best of the best.  This week will be full of the activities that you LOVE as we say farewell to another amazing summer!  Wednesday is Glacier Hollow pride day!  Dress in your favorite past or present Glacier Hollow gear.
