YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow Staff
Our most valuable asset is our staff. Staff are mostly college-aged with interests in environmental studies, teaching and other disciplines. We carefully select staff on the basis of good character, leadership, their ability to make sound decisions and provide campers with a meaningful and safe camp experience. Staff participate in an intensive week-long training that emphasizes leadership development and the safety and welfare of our campers. Did we mention our staff are fun, too? Camper-to-staff ratio averages 8 to 1 or better and we have a maximum of 75 campers in our largest program. A certified first responder is on site at all times.
Camp Glacier Hollow is operated by the Stevens Point Area YMCA under the direction of two highly qualified professional YMCA staff.
Pete “Timber” Matthai, Camp Director
Pete has been a professional Stevens Point Area YMCA staff member since 1998. He holds a degree from UW-Stevens Point in Natural Resource Management – Youth Agency Programming Camp Management and minors in Child & Family Services and Sociology. Pete has over 17 years of professional camp, child care and environmental education experience. He is responsible for the overall operations of YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow and serves as the Youth & Family Services Director overseeing all Child Care operations at the YMCA.
Jamie “Sky” Linzmeier, Summer Director
Jamie has been with YMCA Camp Glacier Hollow since 1995 and holds a degree from UW-Stevens Point in Elementary Education and a minor in Youth Agency Programming Camp Management. Jamie has over 6 years of camp leadership experience. Her primary job is the onsite direction of Glacier Hollow camp programs and also serves as the YMCA Teen Director during the school season.
